TIGHR (The International Guild of Handhooking Rugmakers) triennial is approaching quickly. The dates are Oct. 4-7, 2015, and the event takes place in Victoria, B.C. If you haven’t made arrangements to go yet, now would be a good time. It is going to be an exciting gathering with rughookers from all over the world. Several members of ATHA Region 12 are teaching at the TIGHR Triennial, including: Brigitta Phy, Gene Shepherd, and Gail Becker.
In addition, Dianne Tobias is teaching a 3 day workshop on combining Hooking and Braiding October 8-10, 2015 following the TIGHR (International Guild of Handhooking Rugmakers) Conference in Victoria, BC.
-Attaching a braid to a small round hooked piece. The skills are adaptable to any hooked shape.
The Braiding around Hooking class has filled quickly at the 2013 and 2015 ATHA Biennials.
Dianne is the co-author of “Combining Rug Hooking and Braiding. Basics, Borders and Beyond”, Schiffer 2011and 2 chapters in “Finishing Techniques for Hooked Rugs”, RHM 2013. She has taught at the 2013 and 2015 ATHA Biennials, the John C Campbell Folk Art School, the Woolgathering and at various camps.
